Instagram Creator Statistics: Reach, Community, and Monetization

Key Instagram creator statistics on marketplace growth, Reels, subscriptions, gifts, messaging, and audience behavior.

Instagram creator statistics show a platform built around both public discovery and private connection. Meta reported more than 1.5 million detectable creators in Instagram’s creator marketplace by early 2026, while audience research in Korea and India highlighted daily use, direct messages, and Reels as important parts of creator-audience relationships.

Creator marketplace scale

Meta said Instagram’s creator marketplace had more than 1.5 million detectable creators by early 2026. That figure describes creators detectable within the marketplace, rather than every person who publishes on Instagram, so it is best read as a measure of the marketplace’s searchable scale.

Meta also said it had expanded Instagram’s creator platform to all advertisers globally in early 2026. The same Meta report said the creator marketplace had launched in 19 countries by 2026. These are platform and market-availability figures, not estimates of the total number of Instagram creators worldwide.

The marketplace’s expansion happened in stages. Instagram began testing creator marketplace in the United States in 2022. In February 2024, Meta said the service expanded into eight new markets: Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Japan, India, Brazil, and export brands outside China. Meta also said that thousands of creators and brands in the United States had already onboarded by the time of that expansion.

The timeline gives useful context to the later scale figure. The United States test came first, followed by a named expansion across eight additional markets, and later a reported presence in 19 countries. Because the sources describe different points in the product’s rollout, the figures should not be combined into a single growth rate.

Partnership advertising results

Meta reported several average results for adding partnership ads to business-as-usual campaigns. According to Meta’s report, partnership ads delivered 19% lower cost per acquisition on average. They also produced 13% higher click-through rate on average and a 71% median brand lift on average.

These measures describe different stages of a campaign. Cost per acquisition concerns the cost associated with acquiring an action, click-through rate concerns response to an ad, and brand lift concerns change in brand outcomes. They are therefore separate performance indicators rather than three parts of one combined score.

Meta also compared delivery across Facebook and Instagram with Instagram-only delivery. Running standalone top-of-funnel partnership ads on both Facebook and Instagram generated 18% more conversions on average than Instagram-only delivery. The same cross-platform setup produced 5% lower cost per conversion on average.

The wording matters: these are reported averages, and the brand-lift figure is a median. The results do not establish that every creator campaign will achieve the same outcome, nor do they provide a universal forecast for an individual creator or business.

How the marketplace works

Instagram’s marketplace is designed to organize the connection between creators and brands. Creators can add brand and interest preferences in their professional dashboard when joining. Brands can search creator and audience attributes, which gives them a way to narrow discovery around the creator’s stated interests and audience characteristics.

The workflow also includes dedicated communication features. Creator partnership messages are sent into a dedicated folder at the top of the Primary inbox tab. Brands can send a partnership project to multiple creators at once. These features describe the structure of collaboration: creator preferences and audience attributes support discovery, while a dedicated inbox area and multi-creator project messages support coordination.

The marketplace figures and workflow facts belong to different kinds of measurement. More than 1.5 million detectable creators is a scale statistic. The 19-country figure is a rollout statistic. The dashboard, search, inbox, and project features are product descriptions. Keeping those categories separate avoids treating a platform feature as evidence of audience size or campaign performance.

Creator monetization tools

Instagram has offered several ways for creators to build more direct relationships with followers. Subscription content can be delivered as posts, as Reels, or through an exclusive tab on the creator profile. Meta said subscription offerings were first tested earlier in 2022 before the July 2022 rollout update.

Subscription chats provide a more limited group setting. Instagram subscription chats can include up to 30 people, and subscriber chats automatically end after 24 hours. The 30-person limit and 24-hour duration define the format: a small, time-limited conversation rather than an open-ended public channel.

Gifts are another in-app monetization feature. Instagram expanded Gifts to more creators in the United States in February 2023. Gifts let followers buy virtual gifts directly inside the Instagram app, and those gifts are purchased using Stars in Instagram. Instagram described Gifts as one of a growing number of ways creators can make a living on the platform.

Meta’s broader creator-economy reporting also supplied a separate Facebook figure. Meta said Facebook paid creators nearly $3 billion in 2025 through creator monetization programs. The reported total was up 35% year over year and was Meta’s highest annual creator payout total to date. Because that payout statistic concerns Facebook rather than Instagram alone, it should not be presented as Instagram creator earnings.

Meta also reported how buyers rated creator connection across its products and competing platforms. Twenty-seven percent of buyers rated Meta products as the best experience for connecting with creators. Twelve percent said YouTube offered the best creator connection experience, and 12% said TikTok did. The source does not state that the remaining responses chose one of those services, so these percentages should be read as reported selections rather than a complete ranking.

Reels and short-form discovery

Instagram Reels launched with 15-second multi-clip videos. The launch description said Reels supported audio, effects, and new creative tools. Reels could be recorded as a series of clips, all at once, or by uploading videos from the gallery. A Reel could also be saved as a draft before posting.

The distribution options connected short-form creation with several parts of Instagram. Reels could be shared to a public account’s Explore surface for wider discovery or to a follower feed from the app. They could also be shared to a Story, close friends, or direct message.

Later audience figures show how Reels functioned in specific markets. In Meta’s India Reels report, 92% of surveyed users preferred Reels over other short-form formats, and 95% of surveyed users watched Reels every day. Those are survey results from India, not a global estimate and not a count of all Instagram users.

Meta Korea’s 2024 Instagram year-in-review reported that Reels viewers in Korea were 75% likely to watch with the sound on. The same report mentioned a Meta beauty campaign that generated more than 6 million views and increased sales by more than 120% versus the previous month. Those campaign results are a case study, not a general performance benchmark for every Reel.

Messaging and everyday connection

Instagram creator statistics are not only about reach. Meta Korea’s 2024 year-in-review said Instagram had more than 1 billion active accounts worldwide. In the same report, among surveyed Korean Gen Z Instagram users, 64% said they used Instagram to keep up with friends and acquaintances.

Direct messages were especially prominent in that survey. Among the surveyed Korean Gen Z users, 60.2% said they used Instagram to keep in touch with friends through DMs, while 63.5% said DM was their most-used Instagram feature. Among teens in the survey, 72.5% picked DM as their most-used feature.

The survey also reported frequent use. Seventy percent of surveyed Korean Gen Z users said they visited Instagram at least once a day. Together, the daily-visit figure and the DM results point to a platform used for repeated contact, not only occasional public posting. They describe surveyed Korean users, however, and should not be generalized automatically to every geography or age group.

For creators whose work centers on creative life and connection, the distinction is useful. Reels offer public distribution through surfaces such as Explore and the follower feed. Marketplace tools organize brand discovery and partnership messages. Subscriptions, 24-hour chats, DMs, and Gifts support more direct forms of participation. The available figures measure each layer differently: marketplace scale, advertising averages, survey behavior, product limits, and market-specific case studies.
